About Us

The Baby Basket Inc. Is a non-profit organization established in 1996 as Beds & Britches, Etc. This agency was established as a result of a grant application submitted by Kendra Mon, former director of RSVP. Southeast Indiana Healthy Mothers/Healthy Babies committed to a three year sponsorship period. This period ended in 1999 and it was necessary to become incorporated with a new name, THE BABY BASKET, INC, in order to secure a 501(c)(3) tax exempt status and to operate independently. The purpose was to improve the quality of life for infants, toddlers and their families in our communities. The program was designed to impact “at risk” parents, especially teenagers, who could benefit from finding and using education, health and family support systems in the community. It offers an incentive to make use of these resources-namely-verification forms earned and redeemed for supplies and equipment needed in the care of young children. Clients earning verification forms are actively and responsibly trying to strengthen the health and well-being of their families, thus are receiving an hand up instead of a hand out.
